• Are We Embarrassed Yet?*

    September 19, 2015

The “Undeniable Truths” were part of an article written by Rush Limbaugh for the Sacramento Union in 1988:

    1. The greatest threat to humanity lies in the nuclear arsenal of the
    2. The greatest threat to humanity lies in the USSR.
    3. Peace does not mean the elimination of nuclear weapons.
    4. Peace does not mean the absence of war.
    5. War is not obsolete.
    6. Ours is a world governed by the aggressive use of force.
    7. There is only one way to get rid of nuclear weapons – use them.
    8. Peace cannot be achieved by developing an “understanding” with the
    Russian People.
    9. When Americans oppose America, it is not always courageous and sacred;
    it is sometimes dangerous.
    10. Communism Kills.
    11. Neither the US, nor anyone else, imposes freedom on the peoples of
    other nations.
    12. Freedom is God-given.
    13. In the USSR, peace means the absence of opposition.
    14. To free peoples, peace means the absence of threats and the presence
    of justice.
    15. The Peace Movement in the US, whether by accident or design, is
    16. The collective knowledge and wisdom of seasoned citizens is the most
valuable, yet untapped, resource our young-people have.
    17. The greatest football team in the history of civilization is the
    Pittsburgh Steelers of 1975-1980.
    18. There is no such thing as war atrocities.
    19. War itself is an atrocity.
    20. There IS a God.
    21. Abortion is wrong.
    22. Morality is not defined and cannot be defined by individual choice.
    23. Evolution cannot explain Creation.
    24. Feminism was established so as to allow unattractive women access to
    the mainstream of society.
    25. Love is the only human emotion that cannot be controlled.
    26. The only difference between Mikhail Gorbachev and previous Soviet
leaders, is that Gorbachev is alive.
    27. Soviet Leaders are just left-wing dictators.
    28. Abe Lincoln saved this nation.
    29. The L.A. Raiders will never be the team that they were when they
    called Oakland their home.
    30. The US will again go to war.
    31. To more and more people, a victorious US is a sinful US.
    32. This is frightening and ominous.
    33. There will always be poor people.
    34. This is not the fault of the rich.
    35. You should thank God for making you an American; and instead of
feeling guilty about it, help spread our ideas worldwide.

    Now, Saul Alinsky’s side:

    1) Healthcare –Control healthcare and you control the people
    2) Poverty –Increase the Poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them to live.
    3) Debt –Increase the debt  to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will produce more poverty.
    4) Gun Control –Remove the ability to defend themselves from the Government. That way you are able to create a police state.
    5) Welfare –Take control of every aspect of their lives (Food, Housing, and Income)
    6) Education –Take control of what people read and listen to – take control of what children learn in school.
    7) Religion –Remove the belief in the God from the Government and schools
    8) Class Warfare –Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to take (Tax) the wealthy with the support of the poor.

*(Huge hat-tip to the wonders of the outernet…)

Comparing these two sets of axioms is self-explanatory.  I wonder every day how we so easily went from the first set of truths to the second without a pause or a quibble.   And I wonder every day how we became so helpless we lost our ability to make wise choices about how to turn this sad situation around.   But enough of us have to want it badly enough to do something about it, but doing so involves letting go of the “helpful” hand of the government.

And, no, I’m not leaving out the Judeo-Christian Biblical rules for conduct, which always and forever transcends anything that has come after.  But many of us are so captivated by the second set of truths here that the Bible was the first thing people put down in order to grab for all they could get with both hands. From a nation of stalwart patriots and heroes, scientists, explorers and inventors, we have deliberately and sleepily turned ourselves into one of whiners, wimps, and largesse-clutchers. We have, sadly, become a country of people who will do anything it takes to make sure we don’t lose our places on the government nipples.  This is not just uncharacteristic of Americans.  It is downright DANGEROUS.

    Are we embarrassed yet?

  • An April Repost

    September 7, 2015

This was written in April, and is just as current (if not moreso) today. I love whacking the GOPe with a big spawned-out salmon upside the head. If the only weapon I can use is this keyboard, I’ll use it. Hope you enjoy re-reading this.

    Dear GOP Establishment:
Once more, you have demonstrated your true colors, and your utter disinterest in the little guys out here in Flyoverville. Once again, you have shown the people of America that you would rather get along with the democrats than with your constituents. Once more, you have refused to stand for the platform of the REAL Republican party. Why is this? Why do you even bother to call yourselves “Republican?” Why don’t you just do what you long to do, anyway: Give up those last shreds of “Conservative” pretense, and exchange your GOP elephant for the big blue “D” (for “Dumb?”) in the circle? You know you want to.

You haven’t done anything in the last twenty years but hog-tie and cripple the Conservatives in the party. You’ve mocked and insulted them. You’ve manipulated against them whenever they have tried to make a difference in the way this country is governed. You have stolen elections to keep them out. So, why, if you are willing to be democrats in all your actions, don’t you just finish the process and go to the (“D” for) Dark Side permanently? Are you afraid we will replace you with REAL Conservatives? Well, fear no longer. That IS the plan.

You are dross. You are useless eaters and parasites. You have stolen our livelihoods by not standing up to the leftists when they imposed onerous taxes, because you think that makes the democrats LIKE you. You have treated the people who put you into power and supported your candidacies like redheaded stepchildren ever since you gained office, but, I’m afraid those days are over for you. And for us.

We regret having electing you because you have done nothing but assist the democrats in their deliberate and systematic destruction of this country.

Don’t bother to run for re-election, you RINOs. You are dead. Fall over, and don’t get back up again.

  • Armored Intercessors

    September 6, 2015

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. – 2 Chronicles 7:14(NIV)

I can’t speak for God beyond what we have all been required to do, but I believe that this past six and a half years is a chastisement–not necessarily THE Chastisement–and that He is in effect telling us that we have not only not done what we are required to do as believers, but that we simply haven’t repented.

Prayer is always a good thing. But a lot of times, people pray and pray, and wonder why their prayers haven’t been answered, and the answer is simple, but not simplistic. The Lord tells us that the prayers of a righteous man “availeth much.” The operative word in that phrase is “righteous,” and it means “repentant.” Prayer isn’t much good if we don’t repent while we’re at it.

As long as America is going to continue slaughtering its posterity and teaching its children how to have illicit sex (among other things), we are not going to see much happening on the Spiritual Warfare front. We wouldn’t send our soldiers into battle without arming them, and we shouldn’t expect to go to war against the evil one without at least the Breastplate of Righteousness. We are a nation designed for a praying people. Without that, the country simply cannot “work.”

Repentance is a painful process, but it is absolutely necessary for our Salvation. Not just “confession,” but real, life-changing sorrow for past wickednesses and a strong and determined desire not to return to those ways of life and behavior. But if we want our prayers to be effective and move the battle forward, we must be armed with the right weapons. The Breastplate of Righteousness “extinguishes the firey darts” (temptation and accusation, for example) of the evil one. Let’s get suited up, get on our knees in deep repentance, and get into the battle. There is a war ahead, and we need to be prepared for it in all ways.

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the LORD’S people. (NIV)

1 Sam 17:47 (NKJ) [David, speaking to Goliath] “Then all this assembly shall know that the LORD does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the LORD’S, and He will give you into our hands.”

Deut 20:3-4 (NIV) …”Hear, O Israel, today you are going into battle against your enemies. Do not be faint-hearted or afraid; do not be terrified or give way to panic before them. For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”

Ps 18:32-35 (NIV) It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights. He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You give me your shield of victory, and your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great.

Zec 4:6 (NIV) ”‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty.”

If there is one thing I know, it’s this: God knows how this is going to turn out. Willingly or unwillingly, Americans will be repenting or they will continue to lose freedoms until they are no longer even American, no longer free.

What must our children think of the mess we are leaving them?

  • Those Were The Days

    September 3, 2015

Time was when we could believe the things we heard on the news. I was pretty young, but I do remember when newscasters and reporters simply reported the news and allowed the listener or reader to formulate their own opinions.

Time was when turkey for Thanksgiving cost 4 cents a pound, too. And a package of cranberries for that meal was a full pound. Now, it’s about 12 ounces. Same for coffee. But still at one-pound prices, of course.

Time was when we could put a dollar’s worth of gas in an empty gas tank and Get half a tankful.

But, was there ever a time when we could trust our government to actually have our best interests at heart, or has it always had the shadow personality that exists to insure and expand its existence? Americans have been led down the primrose path for over a hundred years, as politicians and consultants, lobbyists, crooked officeholders and officials, greedy diplomats, and all their sycophants work out the best ways to fool us into supporting them in their double-dealing one more time.

Time was when we would have done something about that, too.

  • Presidential “Don’t’s”

    August 27, 2015

American presidents don’t keep company with domestic terrorists, bow to foreign kings, apologize for their country all around the world, sneer at their citizens, or RULE as if the Constitution didn’t exist. These things are what despots do.

For the first time in America’s history, she has saddled herself with a cowardly despot; someone who regards America as his personal fiefdom, its people as his serfs and slaves, good for nothing except as a source of revenue and adulation, and actively and openly makes policy that is so counter-productive and so anti-American, that it is no stretch to see him as an America-hating Marxist who has surrounded himself with an unelected covey of like-minded elites, bent on the destruction of the very country that elected and acclaimed him. A despot who, as we are finding out to our pain, is going to do everything he can do, pull out all the stops, call in as many military groups as he can, all to stay in power in 2012. The Constitution won’t stop him, since he has nothing but contempt for it. If the thought of this eventuality doesn’t disturb us, it certainly SHOULD.

The question falls to us: What do we want? Do we want more of this, or do we want our country BACK? We need to stay in the loop, to keep ourselves infomed and inspired, and send true-blue conservatives to every public office we can. AND PRAY. We can do this.

  • Moderate, Schmoderate

    August 24, 2015

Where in the world have people gotten the idea that “moderate” equals “independent,” or vice versa?

In reality, nothing could be further from the truth. In political parlance, the two seem to be lumped into the same shapeless blob, as if it is necessary to dismiss any opinions held by these folks.

The moderates are going to be voting (if they even bother to vote) for the most liberal candidate, and history bears this out. They are the ones who will dither until they are in the booth. This is NOT independent thinking, and it does not illustrate the behavior of an independent voter. It’s laziness and a disengaged mind. Moderates might be libertarians, or, they might not. Whatever views they hold often appear to be bland and unformed.

An independent, on the other hand, is one who has decided political opinions, but who prefers not to be officially affiliated with either major party. As a rule, an independent voter is simply classed as a “U,” or “unaffiliated,” but the word moderate does not describe them. The unaffiliated voter most often aligns himself with the more conservative political party or platform. The terms “independent” and “moderate” are not interchangeable, and never were.

Take a look at their definitions:
Moderate: 1. kept or keeping within reasonable or proper limits; not extreme, excessive, or intense: a moderate price.
    2. of medium quantity, extent, or amount: a moderate income.
    3. mediocre or fair: moderate talent.

    Independent: –adjective
    1. not influenced or controlled by others in matters of opinion, conduct, etc.; thinking or acting for oneself: an independent thinker. 2. not subject to another’s authority or jurisdiction; autonomous; free: an independent businessman. 3. not influenced by the thought or action of others: independent research.

Now, I don’t see any similarity at all between the two words. It’s very annoying for independent people to find themselves lumped in with the lazy thinkers of the moderate persuasion in most punditry. It’s as if the writers themselves are moderates who can’t be bothered to take the time to look up the two terms, and see for themselves that there are differences between them, and they are not insignificant.

Please, pundits, don’t lump us feisty independents in with those lazy moderates any more. To quote Queen Victoria: We are not amused.

  • WANTED: Fighters

    August 20, 2015

You can’t listen/watch what’s going on in Washington these days without feeling like you have stepped into some kind of alternate universe. It used to be a regular thing in the halls of government to see harangues, bombast, and name-calling. These days, we are so used (by design of the democrats, obviously) to seeing whiny nancyboys backing down, sucking up, rolling over, and generally falling all over themselves trying to prove how easy they are to get along with, all the while the country is going to Hell in a handbasket, the middle class is being beaten like a rented mule, Christian Whites are singled out for especially noxious mistreatment, Bill Gates has more money than the government, and we expect to see our grandchildren drown in a bottomless ocean of red ink that the current resident filled in just over seven years.

Having a somewhat-black, mostly muslim chief executive who has prounounced every word, move, or legislation from the Right an act of “racism” makes everybody on the Right nervous and very jumpy, and afraid to speak out or express themselves freely. The good guys, being good guys, hesitate to do or say anything that could be construed as “racist,” so they don’t defend themselves when the bad guys push them around and generally prove that nice guys do finish last, and wind up with no respect. It makes it very hard to believe that presumably intelligent people, in control of their faculties and with knowledge and forethought, actually voted these pantywaists into office to make laws on their behalf.

Then, along comes tycoon Donald Trump, and Dr. Ben Carson, and a Republican field of sixteen candidates to throw their hats into the ring. To say that Trump and Carson shook things up would be the understatement of the year. They have managed to tap into a vast undercurrent of dissatisfaction and even rage in the middle class, and it has reached a point, even this early in the campaign cycle, that Trump, for instance, has had to change to larger venues twice for his upcoming speech in Alabama. Will he fill a football stadium? I wouldn’t be surprised. Most of the top tier of candidates are drawing very respectable crowds. They must be saying the things the people want to hear.

And the scandal around Hillary Clinton’s breaches of security, protocol, and general honesty continues to deepen. Who would have thought it could happen, even three months ago? But, I digress.

Any budget battle should be a battle, and it actually looks like it might even develop into something vaguely resembling the real, old-fasioned sausage-making we old-timers were used to seeing in the olden days when lawmakers had the courage of their convictions, and actually STOOD for the same things their voters believed in.

If I was going to say something to my GOP representatives and senators, it would go something like this: “You have the TRUTH on your side. Why are you backing down from compulsive liars? Get back in there and prove to the people who sent you to Washington on their behalf that they didn’t waste their votes. We will vote you out if you refuse to do what we sent you to Washington to do. Remember the elections of 2010 and 2014, and be warned.”

Don’t be alarmed by what you see, because the contests are just beginning, and I hope to see more contention, more argumentation, more shouting and gesticulating, and just plain opposition from now on.

Let’s see what happens when our chosen representatives actually FIGHT for US.

  • Hell-Bent

    August 15, 2015

14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (2 Chron 7:14)

There is a saying out there to the effect that “countries tend to get the kind of government they ask for and deserve.” Of course, as individual Americans, there are millions of Americans who really don’t deserve the destructive, vindictive, hateful government that currently occupies our Capitol, but we do suffer for the actions of the marxists who deliberately put it into place. This “government” has been hell-bent (literally and figuratively) on the destruction of the Constitution for years, and are closer to their goal today than at any point in our history.

As a nation, we appear to be getting what we deserve, even though there are millions of real Americans who are desperately fighting against the evil designs of the marxists in government and media.

These marxist tools have asked, nay, BEGGED, for a nannystate, and forced it onto people who did not wish to be ruled by it. By destroying the middle-class economy, the current regime has deliberately forced millions of formerly hard-working people to beg for handouts from the government. The marxists have demanded a military full of unreliable people of dubious proclivities, and WE got it, in spite of the few remaining personnel in our military forces who wish only to have the opportunity to defend the oath they took when they were sworn in.

What we got for the desires of these spurious legislators is a dictocrat marxist closet muslim who is so anti-Constitutional that he has even managed to persuade democrat governors of several states to join him, not just in trampling the Constitution, but going around Congress and ruling by fiat, regardless of the desires of voters. This group has deliberately and unConstitutionally thwarted the will of the people in forcing o-care through congress to signature without due process or debate (according to plan), and in deliberate defiance of the fact that the people were unanimously opposed to such a sweeping usurpation of their power as previously self-governing free citizens.

So, apparently, it will be left to the believers to follow the scripture verse above, and fall on our knees in contrition before the Lord God; admitting our own part in this through our past inaction, and begging for mercy for America and for our children’s children, who will be left with the burden of consequence from these past sorry choices.
